Course Overview

The Cyber Security course allows students to be job market-ready after completing the course. It is structured to align with the industry’s needs in cyber security, the practice of protecting digital systems and information from security breaches.

The first year foundational Cyber Security course offers students the opportunity to gain comprehensive knowledge in cyber security on a deeper foundational level. Students will start the course with a foundational understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. This is followed by CompTIA IT fundamentals (CompTIA ITF +), which introduces the student to basic IT knowledge and skills. The CompTIA Security+ is a global certification that validates the baseline skills necessary to perform core security functions. The ITIL 4 Foundation course combines the four dimensions of service management with key concepts from development practices such as Lean, Agile, and DevOps, introducing students to the creation, delivery, and continual improvement of tech-enabled products and services offered by the SOC. The Cisco CyberOps Associate (CCNA) will develop a student’s skills to monitor, detect and respond to cyber security threats. In this part of the course, the student will learn security concepts, security monitoring, host-based analysis, and security policies and procedures. The EC-Council Certified SOC Analyst international certification enables the student to play a critical role in identifying and mitigating cyber security threats within organisations.
The course is rounded off by ensuring that students are prepared to enter the workplace with preparation of CV (curriculum vitae) writing skills and preparing them to confidently partake in the interview process as an interviewee. The course is also accredited by a professional body, and the student, after successful completion, will be a registered professional.
